Cameron Clark will be coming down from one of the best years of his career when he plays in the Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professional Championship Midlands qualifier.
The Moor Hall Golf Club professional was one of the vice-captains of the Great Britain & Ireland team that clinched back to back wins over the USA in the PGA Cup in a 16-10 triumph at Foxhills last year.
Now he will step back over to the other side of the fence as he tees off in the qualifying event which is being held at Little Aston Golf Club on Friday, April 27.
The Sutton Coldfield venue will also stage the £78,000 grand final which takes place on July 24-27.
But Clark - who won the Trans-Atlantic event as a player three years ago at CordeValle in the USA - admits 2017 will take some beating.
“Last year was huge, one of the best experiences of my life, just to be involved in that way - and a lot more enjoyable than playing from my perspective,” he said.
“You could take a step back and actually watch the boys trying to perform in a team event rather than focusing on yourself.
“They are great memories to put alongside those from 2015. But it was a different dynamic last year and a very enjoyable one.”
Clark believes having the final at Little Aston this year will be a boost for the Midlands based professionals.
The 2017 showpiece was staged at the impressive Luttrellstown Castle Golf Club in Ireland - which was an unknown quantity to many of the players.
“Little Aston is a course that we know well and one that we all will have played at in the past at some stage,” said Clark.
“So from that point of view it is a familiar venue.
“It’s a great course and a great place to stage the final.
“But, that said, going to Luttrellstown Castle was a great experience for us. That course and facility was awesome and the Irish were very accommodating. That was a great week with a fantastic atmopshere. Everything was there for a tremendous tournament.
“Now though, I’ll be focusing on getting back to the final.”
