Irish golf clubs have the chance to tread in the footsteps of Ryder Cup legends when they take part in this year’s Lombard Trophy regional final at The K Club on June 17.
PGA pro and amateur partners will compete with each other over the Palmer Course with the winning pair going through to the grand final at Gleneagles in September 2-3.
With total prize money of £80,000 including £12,000 to the winning PGA pro, the tournament remains one of the most popular on the PGA schedule and entries are still being taken for The K Club.
Among the clubs already signed up are Killeen who reached the grand final last year, Ashbourne, Lurgan and Portadown.
PGA head of tournaments, Simon Higginbottom, said: “The K Club remains one of the most iconic courses in Ireland, and the jubilant scenes when Ian Woosnam’s European team won the Ryder Cup remain vivid.
“We look forward to seeing more clubs compete in what will be a memorable day for all the teams whatever the result.”
