Scottish PGA professional champion Chris Kelly added £700 to his 2015 winnings with a two-stroke victory over a huge field in the Duddingston 36-hole Order of Merit Challenge at the Edinburgh venue.

Kelly was one of a pack with a winning chance at halfway but he produced a seven-under-par 65 - the best second round - to surge clear of the field down the home straight with a 10-under-par total of 134.

He recaptured the majestic form that carried him to the national title at Gleneagles with a scorecard studded with eight birdies and one bogey in halves of 33 (four-under) and 32 (three-under).

He birdied the third, long fourth, long eighth, ninth, 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th. His only slip came at the short 10th but it did not prove costly in the final analysis as the overnight leaders dropped more more than one shot.

Four players shared second place, two behind the winner, on eight-under 136: Graeme Brown (Montrose Links), Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills), Andrew Oldcorn (Kings Acre) and Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) who each earned £468.

None of them improved on their first-day score, which summed up the difference between them and winner Kelly on the second day.
