Jason Kelly finished ahead of a high quality field to win the 2018 Pinehurst Classic Pro-Am in the North Carolina Sandhills.
Playing on the legendary No.2 Course, which hosted the 2014 US Open won by Martin Kaymer, Kelly’s impressive second round score of 66 helped him on his way to an eight-under par total of 208.
Paul Nessling (Cooden Beach) led after the opening round but finished runner-up on a score of 211, while former Italian European Tour player Paolo Terreni came third on 216.
Many of the competitors were able to enjoy the exciting conclusion to The Masters in nearby Augusta, and Patrick Reed's memorable victory, before travelling up to Pinehurst for the Pinehurst Classic Pro-Am from April 9-12.
Nessling was clearly inspired by events at Augusta in the opening round after shooting a superb 68 on the Pinehurst No7 Course. Kelly (69) was a shot back in second and Terreni (71) was third.
However, in the second round, Kelly's sensational 66 at Pinehurst No. 8 Course would be good enough to open up a four shot lead over Nessling with one round to go.
The final round was played over one of golf's most iconic courses, the legendary Pinehurst No. 2 Course. Just like a US Open Championship, level par was always going to be an excellent score and so it proved to be with Nessling, Harris and Woodman posting a 72.
Kelly held his nerve under the warm North Carolina sun and his final round 73 was good enough for a three-shot victory.
Guy Woodman's team of Dave Roberts, Richard Beach and Carolyn Beach were successful in the team event.
In his winner's speech, Kelly was quick to thank his amateur team members for inviting him to play at one of golf's most famous venues.
Prizes were also handed out for a Challenge Day at the difficult Jack Nicklaus designed No. 9 Course. Once again, Kelly triumphed on the day in the professional competition with a score of 37 points. Woodman and Nessling were tied for second place on 34 points.
