Lloyd Kennedy fired a three-under-par 68 to take the spoils at the Thorndon Park Xmas Fayre Pro-Am.

The event, which was sold out weeks in advance, proved to the liking of the Woolston Manor pro who relished taking on the stunning Harry Colt layout which has moved up to 92nd in the top 100 courses in England.

A stiff test with a freshening breeze caused some problems for the later starters including Kennedy, who was out last in the field.

Bu he coped better than anyone to win by one shot from Steve Cipa from South Essex Golf Centre and Robbie Coles from Maylands Golf and Country Club.

Kennedy takes over the lead in the Porsche Order of Merit at the half way stage in the season from Mark Talbott of Thorpe Hall Golf Club.

The team event was won with an impressive 87 stableford points by John Judd from Hartswood Golf Club with amateurs Peter Millett, Malcolm Prior and Lukas Warren.
