From L to R: Lady captain Juanita Adlington, Mike Lavers, Club captain Tony Cottle, and General manager Richard Cutler.
Making his mark in Jersey is Mike Lavers, who has just been appointed as the new PGA Head Professional at La Moye Golf Club.
Originally from Plymouth, Lavers spent three years in Australia competing on their professional circuit before moving to Jersey eight years ago. His appointment is the latest step in a major overhaul for Jersey’s leading golf club and Braid designed links course.
As part of the club’s strategy to become one of the top private members golf clubs in Europe, the clubhouse is undergoing a £3.5 million refurbishment, led by La Moye’s General Manager Richard Cutler.
To establish the club’s precise needs and identify the right candidate, La Moye’s search was supported from start to finish by The PGA’s Business Relationship Officer service. Described by the club as a robust and comprehensive process, Lavers is clearly delighted to have been chosen from what was a large number of applications.
He commented: “It’s a terrific, life changing opportunity for me. When it’s complete, the clubhouse redesign will be one of the most impressive anywhere, and it’s already generating a lot of interest and praise from our 1,500 strong membership. The focus is on modernisation, complimented with an unrivalled and friendly level of service to all our members, guests and visitors.”
Lavers continued: “One of the outcomes as far as the pro shop’s concerned will be a state of the art custom fitting studio, so that along with my team of PGA Assistants, I’ll be able to provide La Moye’s members with world class service standards when it comes to the club’s retail and teaching experience. I would also like to thank The PGA for their advice and support during the process.”
