Shannon Flynn Hanly (Silvermere) shot an impressive six-under-par 67 to win The Ladies Pro-Am at Cuddington, notching up 42 points for a two stroke victory and £550.

The 67 included five birdies, one eagle and just the one bogey, a scoring rate that edged Maria Tulley (Magnolia Park) and Hannah Ralph into second spot, leaving the rest of the field trailing.

Commenting on her round, Hanly said: “Everything came together really well today, and I have to say that I was inspired by the changes at Cuddington. It’s so much more open and natural, and I’m sure it’s now back to how it was originally meant to be played. The greens were in terrific condition and that really helped my putting.”

She added: “It’s great that this all ladies event has been made to happen again, and everyone had a brilliant time. So I’d like on behalf of all of us who played, pros and amateurs, to say a big well done and thank you not only to The PGA and Cuddington Golf Club, but also to Julie Walker who was yet again the real driving force behind this event.”

Starting off the 10th, Hanly was soon firing on all cylinders making birdie on the 11th and then eagle on the 12th. A dropped shot at the 16th was soon repaired with a birdie at the 18th and three more followed on Hanly’s homeward bound nine including one at her last hole for an emphatic win.

Katie Rule (Mendip Spring) , who made the long trip up from the West Country, led the Burhill Babes to an emphatic four point victory in the team event, pushing The Lady and the Tramps team into the runners up spot and the Emerald Ladies into third.
