Ross Langdon scooped both the individual and team prizes at the Gloucester and Somerset PGA Pro Am at Cirencester. The Brickhampton Court player took advantage of the excellent early scoring conditions to shoot three-under-par 67 and also lead the winning team.
Club professional Ed Goodwin re-introduced the first pro-am under the Gloucester and Somerset banner for several years and attracted 25 teams.
Big-hitting Cheltenham-based Langdon raced to the turn in 32 with birdies at the first, fifth and sixth. Although he was unable to improve on his score on the home run, bogeys at the 11th and 17th were cancelled out by further gains at the 12th and 15th.
In-form Ashley Mansell (Clevedon) and George Ryall (Burnham & Berrow) shared second one shot behind. Mansell recorded two birdies while Ryall made two birdies in his closing three holes.
Nick Haile (Minchinhampton), Russ Berry (Broadway) and Goodwin also broke the par to share fourth on 69.
Langdon’s team of Steve Gallagher, Ben Woodward and Mike Smith blitzed their way to an impressive 88 points. They finished five clear of Scott Thompson (Mendip Spring) with Dave Bate, Nathan Jenkins and James Witchelow. Ryall and the family team of Chris, Will and Tom Dyer were a shot further back in third. They pipped the team led by Luke Gaskins (Lilley Brook) on a back-six countback.
