Ross Langdon could hardly have hoped for success after a wretched start in the Dorset and Wiltshire PGA medal at Upavon.
The South Cerney professional from Gloucester dropped three shots after six holes, but then recovered with a flurry of birdies to win for the fourth time this winter.
He picked up shots at the seventh, ninth, 11th, 13th and 14th before dropping another on the 16th, but his round of one-under 70 was the only sub-par round of the day.
This brought a one-shot win over Andy Beal (Salisbury) whose feature hole was the fifth which he eagled. Birdies at the first and ninth took him out in two-under-par but he dropped two shots on the way home.
The prolific Paul Jones (Canford Magna) managed only two birdies at the sixth and seventh in a return of 73 for third spot. Ross McCance (Chippenham Golf Centre), Nick Brennan (Bowood) and home assistant Dan Carter were fourth one shot further behind.
