James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City) clinched victory at the Muswell Hill Pro-Am with a birdie at the final hole.
He rolled home a putt for a three at the closing 393-yard par-4 hole to finish on four-under – one shot clear of Glen Portelli (Old Fold Manor), Sufian Dhaduk and Danny Poulter (Heacham Manor Hotel) who all fired 68s.
Ruebotham’s 67 was neatly composed as he turned in two-under after birdies at the third and ninth holes.
He picked up further strokes at the 11th and 13th before carding a solitary bogey on 15 which played as the second toughest hole on the day.
But Ruebotham wasn’t to be denied as his birdie at the 18th clinched him a first East region win of the year.
Dhaduk and Portelli got it to four-under-par during their respective rounds. However, both dropped back and had to share for a settle of second spot alongside Poulter who was bogey-free on the day.
James Wood (Crews Hill) was fifth on two-under, taking a special prize for recording the most birdies and eagles in his round – five and one of each.
The day was a major success, not least down to the support from AIA Consulting, a key sponsor of the event.
