Last hole bogey haunts Corrigan

Craig Corrigan was left to rue a final hole bogey which cost him outright victory in the PGA in England & Wales (North) Cumbrian Classic at Silloth-on-Solway and Carlisle.

The Haigh Hall man had to settle for a share of the prize pot with Ganton's former PGA Cup player Gary Brown on a two-over-par total as they finished a shot in front of Mossock Hall serial winner David Shacklady, Shaw Hill's Will Hancock and Corrigan's clubmate Alan Crompton.

An indication of how tough Silloth can play in the wind was evidenced on Corrigan's card. He reached the turn in five-under after a birdie fest but then gave back all the strokes with as many bogeys - rounding off his score with four in a row.

Brown matched his par 72, a quartet of birdies negated by same number of dropped shots, including three on the testing last four hole.

Both players produced a mixed bag of figures at Carlisle where Shacklady's two-under 69 was the best of the day.
