David Salisbury (Three Rivers) birdied the 18th to force a three-way tie in the Ramsey Golf Club 50th Anniversary Pro-Am.
Salisbury, who has just completed his first year as a PGA assistant at the age of 40, began with an eagle at the opening par-five.
That gave him the perfect start before a trio of bogeys threatened to take him out of contention.
But Salisbury had one last ace up his sleeve as he picked up a telling stroke at the closing par-four to finish on a level-par total of 70.
That left him alongside Glen Portelli (Verulam) and Benito Schiavi (American Golf). Frustratingly for the pair, they both closed out their respective rounds with back-to-back dropped shots to allow Salisbury into the picture.
Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range) led the winning team, who notched a tally of 132 points, one clear of the next best.
