Law seriously injured in cycling accident

PGA Professional Angus Law is being treated in intensive care after a cycling accident in the Lake District.

The Wirral Ladies Golf Club pro was airlifted to Royal Preston Infirmary where doctors have put him in an induced coma as they start treatment on the injuries which include a fractured spine, fractured skull and broken arm.

Father-of-two Law, 48, has raised thousands of pounds for charity through his Iron Man endurance tests over the last few years. His previous exploits include swimming the Mersey and cycling across America.

His brother Jim, a former PGA Professional, hopes the strength Angus has gained through competing in Iron Man endurance events will boost his recovery.

He said: "Cycling on roads is bad enough but he was coming down a mountain too. It's upsetting, but he's in the right place.

"He's really into physical fitness with the Iron Man events he does and he's very strong mentally."

Doctors have already performed a nine hour operation on Law's face and he is expected to remain in intensive care for two weeks.

He was planning to run the Wirral Half Marathon on October 13 but his brother is going to run it on his behalf to raise money for Royal Preston's intensive care unit.
