David Law failed to capitalise on a buoyant start to the defence of his Sueno Dunes Classic title, ending the three-day event in joint fifth place.

The Aberdonian scored a one-over-par 70 to finish on five-under-par 202, having scored 65 and 67 in his earlier rounds. Law birdied the third and the long 13th but bogeyed the fifth, sixth and 15th.

Victory on this Germany PGA Developmental Tour event went fittingly to a German, Alexander Kanppe who first made eight birdies in a final round of 62 to tie with Moroccan Faycal Serghini on 199 and then birdied the 18th (the first play-off hole) for the second time within an hour to win the 5,000 Euros first prize.

Law's Paul Lawrie Golf Centre stablemates Jordan Findlay and Kris Nicol finished on 211 and 213 respectively. Findlay finished joint 34th on 211 after a closing 71 and Nicol also had a 71 for a share of 39th place.

Conor O'Neil (Pollok) had a final round of 73 for 41st place on 215.

Phil McLean (Paul Lawrie GC) had a nightmare birdie-less last round of 77 for 216 and joint 42nd place.
