Paul Lawrie has built up such a big stable of professional golfers at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre that he is able to organise competitive outings for them during the Festive shutdown.
The 1999 Open champion took eight of the players to the classic Cruden Bay links and put up prize money for the first three places.
But it wasn’t such a bad investment as Lawrie showed he can still teach the young bucks a thing or two by winning the competition with a excellent four-under-par round of 66 in quite windy conditions.
Kris Nicol finished a distant second with a 71 and Paul's elder son, Craig, third on 72.
Others who played were David Law, Philip McLean, Billy Fyfe, Craig Dempster, Sean Lawrie (Paul's nephew), and Michael MacDougall, manager of the Paul Lawrie Foundation.
“We all had a great time," said Lawrie on his website. “The course was in fantastic condition for this time of year. A huge thanks to everyone at Cruden Bay, especially the chef. The sausage rolls were the best I've tasted for ages!"
