Paul Lawrie won the inaugural Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Challenge against his Ryder Cup team captain, Jose Maria Olazabal.

The Scot beat Olazabal by three strokes over the nine-hole par-three course at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, on the south side of the River Dee, at Aberdeen

The day started nicely for the host as he made a hole-in-one with his opening tee shot – a smooth nine iron into a gentle breeze at the 134-yard first hole.

He went on to complete his round with a three-under-par 24 to win by three shots from the Spaniard.

The event, sponsored by Farmfoods, also included a donation by AOGA (Aberdeen Oilmen’s Golf Association) of £25,000 to the Paul Lawrie Foundation.

Following the Challenge, Paul and Ollie took questions from some of the 600 spectators and the two Ryder Cup stars also conducted a short-game clinic for some of the children who benefit from The Paul Lawrie Foundation.
