Following on from last year, The PGA are again offering all Assistants the opportunity to gain coaching experience from the highly qualified team of coaches delivering lessons at this year’s Open Championship at Royal St. George’s.

Having access to the R&A Swingzone could provide you with the following learning opportunities and informal personal development:

  • Shadow experienced coaches
  • Observe different coaching styles in action
  • Structure a coaching session with a limited time window
  • Gain knowledge of different drills used in coaching
  • Learn questioning skills
  • Use technology during coaching sessions
  • Be an adaptable and inclusive coach
  • Deliver coaching sessions on the public stage
  • Excellent networking opportunity to enhance your coaching methods and gain expert feedback

This unique opportunity is open to all trainee and Assistant Professionals with a passion and desire for coaching. A flexible timetable of availability will be developed based upon demand.

If you are planning to be at The Open for any time between July 12 – 19, you can be part of the Swingzone for a morning, afternoon or 1 to 2 hours.

This opportunity will be available to you at no charge and is unpaid. Please be aware that you will need to follow the PGA member ticket pre-booking procedure (please look out for updates - information will be available on PGA website in the member benefits section).
