Levermore and Stokes victorious

Jason Levermore and Mark Stokes tied at the top after notching four-under-par 67s at the inaugural Swaffham GC Pro-Am, supported by Marston’s Beer Company.
Levermore (Channels) was out the earlier of the two players and compiled a fine round that included six birdies. Three of them came inside four holes on the back nine as he produced a strong finish.
Stokes, playing in the fourth last group, didn’t drop a single shot to the card. The Rayleigh Golf Range professional turned in three-under, before picking up another stroke at the par-five 15th.
It was the second time Stokes had shared success this season on the PGA in England (East) pro-am schedule after also tying at Essendon Country Club in June. He also led the victorious team at Swaffham.
Levermore’s excellent season continued with this, his seventh tournament schedule triumph of 2014.
Mark Baker (Colchester) was also closing in on a 67 but he made bogey at the closing two holes to tie for third with James Scade (Ingrebourne Links). One stroke and one position back was Ian Ellis (Great Yarmouth & Caister) after a round of 70.
