Jason Levermore is hoping to cap off a big year with success in the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship regional qualifier.
Levermore will once again partner Chelmsford Golf Club’s Andrew Pestell, this time at Bush Hill Park on Monday 19 August.
The pair are former winners of the event and they are aiming to reach the £28,750 final, supported by BMW, which will be held at Forest Pines Hotel in Lincolnshire on October 2-4.
And Levermore will enter the event on the back of an exciting 12 months which have seen his life change completely.
The Essex-based professional ended last year by qualifying for the PGA Championship at Wentworth where he managed a hole in one.
Levermore also switched clubs to become the Head Professional at Channels Golf Club near Chelmsford to help give more stability for his wife and new-born son.
And while that has taken up much of his focus, he admits his new bosses also want him to have a playing career as well.
Levermore said: “I’ve been finding my feet here since April, but it’s a job I wanted after me and my wife had a baby boy three months ago.
“The owners here wanted someone local to take over and luckily I got the job.
“But the Stubbings family, who run Channels, are very good to me and they’re encouraging me to play events like the Fourball Championship and take part in the Order of Merit.
“So for that reason, I’ll be able to go to Bush Hill Park and try to get to the final again.”
Levermore admits he and Pestell have had mixed fortunes in the event.
He added: “We won the grand final a few years back, we were exempt the next year then didn’t qualify for two years in a row.
“We played in last year’s final and finished joint sixth. But even then we struggled on some of the par fives and could’ve done better.
“So if we get back there then we still feel we can improve on that.”
Other teams taking part at Bush Hill Park include: Stuart Brown (Orton Meadows Golf Club) and Ian Ellis (Costessey Park Golf Club); Michael Grace and Lee Scarbrow (John O'Gaunt Golf Club); Stuart Smith (Thetford Golf Club) and Barrie Trainor (Old Joe's Golf Range); Simon Sheppaard and Andrew Agnoli (Bishops Stortford Golf Club); Joel Saunders and Glen Portelli (Verulam Golf Club); and Lee Marshall (Gog Magog Golf Club) and Ben Kerr (West Suffolk Golf Centre)
