Levermore Takes Order Of Merit Crown

Jason Levermore (Little Channels Golf Centre) confirmed he is the star of the East by landing the regional Order of Merit crown for the fifth time in his career.

Levermore sealed his place at the summit for 2018 by finishing tied-third in the season-concluding KJW Millbrook Masters.

It was the latest in a series of ultra-consistent displays in the five events that contribute to the overall rankings.

Levermore opened up with a victory in the London Open and then added a trio of top-three finishes, including a play-off defeat in the East Region Championship.

The only time he came outside the top-three was in the Ingrebourne Links Championship at which he was tied-seventh.

In finishing top of the pile Levermore qualifies for the PGA Play-Offs at Antalya in Turkey from November 21-23.

He will be joined at the prestigious end-of-season showdown by Rob Coles (Maylands Golf & Country Club) and Jack Winer (Abridge Golf & Country Club), who were second and third on the East region’s Order of Merit.

Levermore, 39, said: “All I was interested in was making sure I get to Turkey – to finish top of the Order of Merit is a nice little bonus.

“I’ve been real steady this year – nothing really special, but I haven’t done a lot wrong.

“I can’t wait for Turkey to be honest. I’ll just try and put in a decent performance at the Play-Offs.

“I was second there in 2014, which got me into the 2015 PGA Cup team.

“So that is my goal – to hopefully finish in the top-three and get in the GB and I team for Texas next year.”

Levermore first won the Order of Merit in 2004 and added further titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
