Giuseppe Licata extended his lead at the top of the Total Triumph Order of Merit by winning a hastily arranged Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal at Wells Golf Club.

The event was due to be played at nearby Mendip Golf Club which was fog-bound, but the move suited Licata. The Bristol Golf Centre man posted a five-under-par 65 to win by two from George Ryall (Players Club) and new Saltford assistant Chris Coles.

G&S PGA chairman Andrew March contacted Wells PGA Professional Jack Heginbotham who was able to arrange a two tee start with the co-operation of his members for the first PGA visit since 2007.

Licata carded six birdies at the second, sixth, ninth, 13th, 15th and 16th before his only blemish at the 18th hole.

Ryall just failed in his attempt for a third straight win while Coles completed his best round as a professional. Tim Baker (Bristol Golf Centre) marked his season debut with 68 to claim fourth. March made a return to his early season form to share fifth with amateur Mitch Waite (Filton) on 69.
