Giuseppe Licata banished the indifferent form that has plagued him in Gloucestershire & Somerset PGA events since the start of the year by winning the Cirencester Medal.
The victory was the Filton Golf Club head PGA Professional’s third win of the winter series and in achieving it he had to combat demanding pin positions on greens that were lightning fast in places.
In doing so he was the only competitor to match par, his round of 71 leaving him a shot clear of a quartet sharing second place.
The foursome comprised Burnham & Berrow’s Shane Kaye, Luke Gaskins of Brickhampton Court, the Isle of Wedmore’s Lee Corfield and Mark Plummer from the host venue.
Corfield, the early pacemaker in the Total Triumph Order of Merit, was making his first appearance for several weeks and, in finishing tied-second, trimmed leader Ed Goodwin’s lead.
Fewer than two points now separate the duo with Licata consolidating third spot with his win.
