On a beautiful spring day twenty five teams turned out to contest the latest leg of the winter series at Northampton Golf Club.
The strong field saw representation from across the county, with the top eight in the Order of Merit all in attendance the competition was fierce. The fine conditions saw the competitors producing many excellent sub-par scores in the professional medal sponsored by Michael Jones Jewellers.
Leading the way and the clear winner was Simon Lilly who fired seven birdies on his way to a seven under 65. The runner up was home professional Nick Soto with a solid 69, third went to Adam Chamberlain from Peterborough one shot further adrift. Fourth place was shared by Dan Wood, Kieran Thomas (Brampton Heath) and Rodney Holt (Silverstone).
In the team event no team shot over par, the amateurs enjoyed the warm weather and the scoring was very low. Leading the way was home professional Andy Myers playing with club members Frank Bustin, Drew Russell and Le Van Hoof.
