Lilly blossoms to take Matchplay title

Simon Lilly (Golfer’s Choice) produced a fine performance to beat Daniel Wood (Brampton Heath) in the final of the PGA in Northamptonshire Matchplay sponsored by Phil Beswick.

The former Midland No.1 birdied the third, sixth and ninth at Northampton Golf Club to reach the turn 3Up.

Both players birdied the 11^th before Lilly then birdied 12 to go 4Up. Wood then got it back to 2Down winning 13 with a par and a birdie on the 14^th but a birdie on the 16^th for Lilly sealed the deal.

The win is Lilly’s eighth triumph in the event.
