A top quality field assembled in South Carolina to compete in the Hilton Head Classic Pro-Am, another of The American Golf Holiday’s prestigious Pro-Am Tour events.
The Pro-Am was staged at the Sea Pines Resort and included play at the world-famous Harbour Town Golf Links which was presented in immaculate condition just two weeks prior to the visit of the PGA Tour for the RBC Heritage Classic.
The 54-hole professional event produced an exciting finish with Wellingborough’s Simon Lilly returning to the Pro-Am Tour’s ‘winner’s circle’ with a four shot victory over Lee-on-the-Solent’s James Ablett. Carluke Golf Club’s Craig Ronald was third.
In the team event, Ablett led his amateurs, Terry Drake, Gary Cheater & Dave Roberts to victory. Lee Fickling’s team was second, and Dan Ball’s team third.
A memorable week included a short boat trip across to the neighbouring Daufuskie Island where the competitors played a challenge day at the exclusive Haig Point Club.
It was topped off with some of the competitors staying on to visit The Masters at Augusta.
