Former European Tour player Stuart Little won the Tolchards pro-am at Tiverton after setting the pace with a sensational start.

The tall left-hander from Minchinhampton’s six-under-par 65 was founded on a run of five birdies in the first eight holes at the attractive Devon parkland course.

He picked up shots at the first, third and three in a row from the sixth. One lapse at the 11th for the only five on his card was followed by further birdies at the 13th and 15th.

He signed for eight threes to claim his first win in almost a year.

Little finished three clear of man-of-the-moment Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) who did keep a five off his card, making five birdies and two bogeys.

Russell Berry (RB Golf Range & Teaching Arcade), Sion Bebb (Vale Hotel), Christian Vine (Woodbury Park) and James Pickard (Honiton) shared third on 69.

Paul Jones (Canford Magna) led the Hartridge team to success on 15-under-par 127 partnered by Martin Hartridge, Robin Lovering and Mark Eastman.

Vine’s Wadworth team of Rhys Cruse, Colin Taylor and Robin Phillips were second on 128 followed by Laurent Perrier led by Watson with Farzand Mungar, Andy Jones and Paul Uphill.
