Stuart Little made a late surge to snatch the Woodbury Park pro-am from four others with an impressive run of four birdies in five holes from the 10th to come home in 32.

The powerful left-hander, who will be 48 on Saturday, signed for six-under-par 67 over the quality course in East Devon where the regional PGA headquarters are based.

The veteran of almost 200 European Tour starts plays in the Order of Merits and selected pro-ams to complement his role as teaching professional at Minchinhampton New Golf Club.

He moved a shot clear of Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge), Barry Forster (North Wilts) and David Dixon (Enmore Park) while man-of-the-moment Adam Frayne (Yelverton) joined them on five-under later after making an eagle three at the first and adding six birdies to three bogeys.

Hendriksen was also back in 32, also making six birdies and dropping one shot. Forster and Dixon also birdied six holes in halves of 35 and 33.

The 466-yard first hole is usually played by professionals as a par four so further eagles were made there by home man Christian Vine and Morlais Castle player Sion Bebb.

Little has played in only seven pro-ams this season yet has a remarkable record. This was his second win, following a first-place tie at North Wilts. He was second at Ferndown and joint runner-up at Cotswold Hills.

Promising newcomer and home assistant Tom Jessamine carded 69 to share sixth with Bebb and Vine.

James Ruth (China Fleet) led home the winning team on 93 while Frayne, James Pickard (Honiton), Ben Fisher (Titleist) and Hendriksen followed on 86.
