Oscar Granstrom Livesey got off to the best possible start in the 2017/18 Titleist & FootJoy PGA South Winter Series by shooting a cool six-under-par 64 to card 42 points at Hankley Common.

The Royal Mid Surrey player picked up seven birdies as he headed towards the final hole and a bogey at the 18th did little to harm his score as he finished three points ahead of three players tied in second.

Granstrom Livesey was delighted with his second win of 2017. He said: “Hankley’s so inspiring. I found some hot form for 95% of the round, and dropping that shot on the last hole was disappointing, but the £500 winner’s cheque and my Titleist & FootJoy Ball, Glove and Shoe contract more than made up for it.”

Played as a Stableford event, Granstrom Livesey made four birdies from the fourth to the seventh, including a handy deuce at the short sixth.

Keeping up the momentum after the turn, he birdied the 12th, 15th and 17th to reach seven-under-par before a bogey at the last spoiled an otherwise highly impressive round from the rising star.

Trailing in Granstrom Livesey’s wake was a group comprising Tournebury’s Ben Wall, Beaverbrook’s Billy Hemstock, and PGolfCoaching@Pedham’s Adam Clough, each of whom notched up cards of 39 points.

The second Winter Series event at Littlestone saw Rustington Golf Centre’s Michael Bullen, Corhampton’s Adam Reid and Pentland Golf’s Steven Mitchell all served up two-under-par cards of 69, scoring 38 Stableford points each to tie for top place.
