Clubs across Great Britain and Ireland are seizing the chance to play in Europe’s largest pro-am with over 400 already signed up to compete in the 2018 Lombard Trophy.
More than 1,000 golfers will contest this year’s competition, which culminates with an expenses paid trip to Portugal for the Grand Final.
Before then, 14 regional qualifiers at some of the top venues across the UK and Ireland will determine who progresses to the Grand Final.
The winning pair from each qualifier will then compete at the five-star Pestana Vila Sol Golf & Resort Hotel, Vilamoura for a slice of the £41,450 prize fund put up by sponsors Lombard.
All 74 places for the PGA South region qualifier at former Ryder Cup venue Walton Heath on July 17 have already been filled.
The first regional final tees off at Little Aston, Birmingham, on June 5 with Burnham & Berrow wrapping up the qualifiers on August 2.
Nicola Melville, tournament controller for the Lombard Trophy, commented: “We have had over 400 entries for this year’s Lombard Trophy, which is up significantly from the numbers at this stage last year.
“We hope clubs will again support the regional finals, which offer PGA Professionals and amateurs alike, a superb tournament experience and one I’m sure they will all enjoy.
“With the support of Lombard, the PGA National Pro-Am Championship remains one of The PGA’s most popular events and we look forward to hosting the regional qualifiers ahead of the Grand Final showdown in Portugal.”
Around 700 clubs entered the Lombard Trophy in 2017, with Hart Common duo Steve Parry and his amateur partner Andy Picton prevailing in a dramatic play-off to claim victory.
