Longball extends Order of Merit support for Assistants & Trainees

The PGA in England (South) is delighted to announce that the top Canadian golf and leisure clothing company Longball is continuing its association with PGA Professional golf as the 2016 sponsor of the region’s Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit. 

Describing itself as ‘a Canadian-brewed company providing performance golf clothing, from the touring pro making a living on the weekends to the man or woman teeing it up with their buddies for the good times.’, Longball was created by three Canadians who were passionate about golf and the lifestyle that went with it.

PGA south based PGA Professional Guy Woodman is Longball’s UK ambassador and sales representative. Besides competing in regionally PGA tournaments under the Longball name, Woodman will be promoting and selling Longball apparel to retailers and pro shops alike throughout the UK.

There will be cash bonuses through the season at the professional only Assistants & Trainee tournaments for players wearing any Longball garment on the day of the tournament.  Full details will be supplied on the day of each event.

The series will be known as the Longball PGA South Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit, comprising four tournaments open to all PGA Registered Trainees and all PGA Professionals who have been qualified for three years or less within Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. 

The winner of the 2016 PGA South Longball A&T Order of Merit will receive Longball clothing to the value of £500.

The four OoM tournaments are:

Assistants & Trainees Match Play Championship - Match Play rounds throughout the season - Finals Day at Epsom - Monday 19 September.  Prize Fund £2500 minimum.

Titleist & Foot-Joy A&T BetterBall Pro-Am - 18 Hole Pro-Am event - Wednesday 13 April - Farnham, Surrey.  Prize Fund £3000 minimum.

The Golf College Challenge - 36 Hole Professional event - Tuesday 14 June – Lindfield, East Sussex.  Prize Fund £3000 minimum.

PGA South Assistants & Trainees Championship – entries via three pre-qualifying events for the 36 Hole Professional event - Monday 12 September - Cuddington, Surrey.  Prize Fund circa £5000.

The Longball PGA South Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit provides the perfect opportunity for the region’s PGA Trainees and Assistants to participate and test their skills against their peers.
