Spanish destination Lumine Mediterranea Beach & Golf Community has been announced as the new grand final venue for the popular Golfplan Insurance PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.
The resort, which features two Greg Norman designs, will stage the £25,000 event over 36 holes from Wednesday, November 30 - Thursday, December 1.
The Troon managed property, which is located just 50 minutes south of Barcelona, is a fixture with the European Tour as a Qualifying School venue and recently announced a strategic investment in The Lakes course which is set to further enhance guest and playing experiences.
Lumine has three courses with the 6,899 yard Norman designed The Lakes, complemented by The Hills and The Ruins – another Norman 9-hole design.
PGA chief executive Sandy Jones said: “We are delighted that Lumine will host the Golfplan Insurance PGA Pro-Captain Challenge at the end of November.
“The PGA Pro-Captain grand final is always keenly contested and after a successful run at Turkey’s Antalya Golf Club we are looking forward to this new chapter in the event’s history and I’m sure the finalists will relish the opportunity of competing in such a beautiful setting.”
Lumine’s general manager Calle Carlsson commented: “We have a rich heritage of hosting top-class tournament golf at Lumine, and the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge is a fantastic addition to our events calendar for 2016.
“The Lakes is arguably the toughest of our three courses and will provide a strong challenge for the finalists; away from the course we’re looking forward to offering the competitors a taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle and hospitality that Lumine is renowned for.”
More than 500 clubs enter the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge every year with 10 regional finals across the UK to determine the ten finalists.
The action gets underway at Broadstone in Dorset on August 2 with further qualifiers at Haggs Castle, Scotland (Aug 12), Enville, Stourbridge (Aug 16), Bowood, Wiltshire (Aug 23), Dunham Forest, Cheshire (Aug 26), Rudding Park, Yorkshire (Aug 30), The Addington, Surrey (Sept 1), Luttrellstown, Dublin (Sept 8), Northants County (Sept 12) and King’s Lynn, Norfolk (Sept 15).
