Lydia keeps winning run going

Lydia Hall completed a remarkable week with a joint first place finish in the fifth round of the WPGA One Day series at Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club.

Ladies European Tour player Hall recorded her latest victory just 24 hours after beating a male field to pull off an impressive triumph at the Welsh National PGA Championship at Tenby.

Hall then switched her attention to the WPGA Order of Merit race by carding a four under par round of 69 at Salisbury to tie with Katie Rule, of Cornwall’s Mullion Golf Club.

The pair were three shots ahead of their nearest challengers Sian Evans  (Kings Hill Golf Club);  Maria Tulley  (Eastbourne Downs Golf Club) and Rachel Woodcock  (Belton Park Golf Club).

But Hall, of Hensol Golf Academy in South Glamorgan, admitted there was no way the success of the previous day would stop her competing in the event.

“It was a bit hectic and and early start, but I’m committed to whatever’s in my diary, it was never in my mind not to compete.” she said.

“I’d won at Tenby the day before, which was great, but I wanted to meet up with the other women players in the event and find out what they’re doing, and it was a chance to play a new course for me.”

Hall said she would not be taking part in the next round of the event at Chestfield but plans to play the final round at South Herts Golf Club to try and bid for the WPGA Order of Merit title.

“I always play to win so I was actually a bit disappointed that I wasn’t the outright winner her,” she added.

“There were a few par fives out there that I didn’t really take advantage of. And I didn't really get going until the back nine which included an eagle at the 16th hole, so I finished strongly. But the course was fantastic, it was a really nice track.

“I’ll miss the next round as I’ll be in Scotland. But I intend to play the final event of the series.”
