It’s the sweet taste of success for The PGA’s official supplier programme after signing a three year agreement with Mars Incorporated.

The Slough-based family owned firm, which produces a range of favourite treats including Mars, Twix and Snickers, has made the move to help expand its profile in the leisure sector.

As the part of the agreement, Mars will also be sharing their retail expertise with PGA Members to help maximise point of sale returns.

Tori Munslow, account manager for Mars, said: “Mars is relatively new to the leisure business and this is an ideal opportunity to help us reach golf facilities in the UK.

“We hope it proves a mutually beneficial relationship as we’ve had a lot of feedback from pros eager to know how to promote the products and make it an integral part of their retail offering.”

Benefits of the arrangement for pros who use Mars will be free delivery of product through the Palmer & Harvey network and access to point of sales promotions and educational advice on how to stock the right products and brands for the facility.

Robert Maxfield, The PGA’s joint chief operating officer, commented: “This is an exciting partnership which will bring a number of benefits to PGA Members in helping them maximise revenue.

“Giving members access to the retail and marketing expertise of Mars will be invaluable and we look forward to a long and successful relationship.”

Mars owns a family of brands including Wrigley’s chewing gum and the business really took off in the 1930s under Forrest Mars who brought the company to England in 1932.

One of its most popular offerings, the Snickers bar, was launched in 1930 – the same year that the PGA Assistants Championship was first contested.
