Andy Marshall was in good form to claim the professionals’ trophy in the Edinburgh and East of Scotland Alliance fixture at Berwick-on-Tweed Golf Club.
The Houston Golf Range, Broxburn pro was out early in a field of 74 and made the most of short-sleeved weather over the Goswick Links to finish his round for a four-under-par 65.
Late in the day, The Hirsel pro Daniel Wood bogeyed the last hole and, with a 66, came up one short of matching Marshall's score. Wood had to settle for the £80 runner-up prize, compared with the winner's £100.
Joint third on level-par 69 were Gullane assistant Keir McNicoll and Duddingston pro James Dick as well as leading amateur Colin Fraser (Peebles). McNicoll and Dick earned £40 each, Fraser the equivalent in a voucher.
With McNicoll figuring on the main prizelist, the assistants’ prize went to Louis Gaughan (Bathgate) with a gross 73.
Marshall's winning effort saw him move up to second place in the Scratch Order of Merit, behind Drumpellier pro Ross Neill.
