Matchplay crown for Hendriksen

Paul Hendriksen added the Devon PGA matchplay championship to his Order of Merit title after defeating Torbay Driving Range’s Harry Mayers 4 and 3 in the final at Bovey Castle.

In the semi-final Paul (Ivybridge) beat his brother Dan (Torquay) by one hole in a close contest full of quality golf. Mayers beat Ryan Pope (Exeter) by two holes.

The Hendriksens beat Tiverton duo Jessica Bradley and Tom Hanson in the quarter final. Pope beat James Urquhart (Torquay) 4&3 and Mayers eliminated Jack Venn (Boringdon) on the last hole. 

In the first round Paul Hendriksen beat Adam Keates (Bigbury), Dan Hendriksen beat Devon Greenslade (Downes Crediton), Bradley beat William Farley (Bovey Castle), Hanson beat Kevin Harper (East Devon), Pope (Exeter) beat David Cockayne (Tiverton), Urquhart beat David Sheppard (Dave Sheppard Golf), Venn beat Tom Jessamine (Exeter) and Mayers beat Neil Holman (Torbay DR) who retired injured after six holes.
