McKechnie claims Sandyhills Pro-Am win

Paul McKechnie secured his third victory on the Tartan Tour this season with a five-under-par 65 in the Sandyhills Golf Club, Glasgow Pro-Am.

McKechnie, winner of a £10,000 first prize on the EuroPro Tour event at Lossiemouth, finished two shots ahead of Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) and three clear of joint third place Craig Matheson (Falkirk Tryst) and Christopher Currie (Caldwell).

The Braid Hills pro had seven birdies and two bogeys on his card with the sub-par figures coming at the third, sixth, eighth, short 13th, short 15th, long 16th and 18th. 

He dropped shots at the fifth and 10th.

Fox had six birdies but bogeyed the fifth, seventh and 11th.

Fox did lead the S Boyd Joiners trio of Stephen Boy (handicap 16), Ian Wilson (9) and Fraser Boyd (18) to victory in the pro-am team event with a best ball of 14-under-par 56.
