The Captain Sarah Bennett
Role: Captain of The PGA and Head Teaching Professional at Three Rivers, Essex
“Compared to the PGA Cup (where Sarah served as an assistant to Captain DJ Russell last month), I think the main thing for me is that the two events are very, very different. Obviously, I’m not going to be putting pairings together.
"I want to portray positivity and let the players know that they are all here for a reason – and really make sure that they understand before we go out there the areas to work on to get really sharp for playing in Albuquerque.
“I want to be very motivational to them and very level-headed. If they start to get a bit intense, or whatever, then I can say, look, you
know what we’ve done, we’ve got some time to work on it, let’s do it together and understand what we’re doing.
“My main job, and I’ve done quite a lot of work already on it, is looking at the course set up and relaying that to the players to say that this is the course length, and these are the areas we need to work on. So don’t worry that it’s 300 yards longer, because you mustn’t forget the altitude – you don’t need to be rushing off to the gym.”
