Mitchell and Baker tie at the top

Neil Mitchell (Ipswich Golf Centre) made a birdie at final hole to claim joint top spot alongside Mark Baker (Colchester) in the Chelmsford Pro-Am.

Mitchell notched a two at the 151-yard par-3 to secure a two-under-par round of 66.

He made four birdies in all on his way to a first East Region pro-am triumph of the year.

Baker had finished a few minutes, playing a fine inward nine, having started at the 10th.

He made birdies at his 10th, 11th and 15th and parred home. It was his second victory of the year after also winning at Saffron Walden last month.

Paul Hetherington (Great Hadham G&CC) and David Salisbury (Three Rivers G&CC) both shot 67 to take a share of third spot.

Steve Cipa (South Essex Golf Centre) led the victorious team on a total of 121.
