Mitchell and Fleming hold narrow lead

Just three points separate seven pairs after the first day of the Marston’s Beer Autumn Classic.

Neil Mitchell (Ipswich Golf Centre) and amateur partner Hamish Fleming opened up a one-point lead at Felixtowe Ferry following 18 holes of greensomes, played under Stableford scoring.

The duo mustered 43 points at the Suffolk links, one clear of Richard Webb (Tilsworth Golf Centre) and Chris Ellson and also Glen Portelli (Verulam) and A Makepiece.

The second day’s golf will be hosted by renowned heathland club, Woodbridge. The format for the concluding 18 holes will be four-ball better-ball.
