Wintry conditions made scoring tough in the Peterborough Milton pro-am, and left all 19 teams at the annual Winter Series event reaching for their waterproofs.
A cold easterly wind blew across the course, with a hail storm suspending play mid round for 10 minutes. It came as little surprise that no professional managed to break par as the event became a real test of resolve.
Bryn Morris (Kibworth GC, Leics) prevailed to win by one shot, shooting a two-over-par 73 which wasn't all plain sailing, double bogeys on two of the short holes threatened to disrupt a steady round.
Young assistant professional Jon Handyside (Priors Hall) finished a creditable second on three-over-par 74, a round that could have been so much better if it wasn't for a costly seven at the par-four 10th. Third place was shared by three players Tim Rouse, Dan Wood and Simon Lilly who all returned four-over 75s.
The youthful team of Gavin Hitchcock, Max Armstrong and Liam Humphreys, led by Northamptonshire PGA Captain Paul Armstrong scored an excellent 133, nine under par to win the team competition.
