Christopher Evans might need something of a miracle but he's genuinely the only golfer on the PGA Midlands circuit to still be in with a chance of achieving an historic double triumph.
The Wishaw golfer currently sits a very close third in the Assistant's Order of Merit and fifth in the main table with one event to play in each as the season draws to a close.
The Assistants which culminates first at Hatchford Brook on September 11th is the likelier target, but the ambitious Evans hasn't totally ruled out the possibility of glory in both.
“Hatchford is a course I know well and I'm looking forward to competing there and getting the job done, ” he explained.
“ If I can win there who knows, I'll go to Shifnal and try to play solidly and we'll see what happens.”
It seems like a lifetime ago that Evans won at Pype Hayes in late March at the Trainees Strokeplay event to qualify for the season's main competitions.
Since then he's been victorious on two further occasions and recorded an impressive 22 other top ten finishes, Mr Consistent he has certainly been, time now for the icing on the cake.
Should he be successful at Hatchford Brook his double dream could be realised at Shifnal, host to the Midlands PGA Professional Championship, the fifth main Order of Merit competition and the season's curtain call later this month which will determine the top three Midland PGA pros to contest the PGA Play-Offs in Turkey at the end of the season.
Unlikely though it may be with Evans a few points behind the leaders headed by defending champion Matthew Cort, he's still in a confident frame of mind.
“Reaching the top three in the final table has always been my target for the season, but if I can put a couple of good rounds together and put a bit of pressure on the leaders then maybe it could get even better than that."
