Noel Murray defended the Black Bush Ladies Assistants Pro-Am title, carding a one-over-par 74 to edge out Hazel Kavanagh (Carr Golf Services) and Joe Dillon (Headfort GC) by a single shot.

The Massereene assistant, who shared the title in 2014 with David Ruddy, was not be denied this time on a day when showers and blustery conditions made low scoring difficult.

Murray went to the turn in level-par 37 with a bogey at the par-four seventh, cancelled out by a birdie at the par-five ninth.

He grabbed another birdie at the par-five 10th to get to one under for the day but dropped shots at the 12th and 16th saw him finish on one-over-par.

Former Ladies European Tour player Kavanagh made a slow start dropping three shots inside the opening seven holes. She picked up her first birdie of the day at the par-four eighth to reach the turn in two-over 39.

Winner of the Irish Club Professional title in 2014, Kavanagh played some steady golf on the back nine reeling off seven pars, a bogey and one birdie at the par four 15th to be home in level-par 36.

Dillon also struggled on the front nine. He went to the turn in two-over 39 with dropped shots at the second, third and eighth offset by a birdie at the par-four sixth.

He started the back nine brightly with a birdie at the par five 10th and then rattled off seven pars in a row before a costly dropped shot at the 18th dropped him into second.

The team pro-am title was grabbed by Galgorm Castle's Ross Oliver with a score of 82 points.

Edenderry Golf Academy duo, Brian McCormack and Gerard Hall, finished joint second with 81 points.
