Narrow lead for Tim and Gary

Tim Cooper (Newton Green) and amateur partner Gary Borthwick sit on top of the leaderboard after the opening day of the Summer Classic, staged in North Norfolk.

The pair amassed 43 points on the coastal course of Royal Cromer to open up a narrow advantage.

Cooper and Borthwick enjoyed the greensomes Stableford format, edging a point clear of Jack Yetton (Acushnet Europe Ltd) and Mike Crowe.

The challengers are lining up behind with no less than five duos tied in third spot on 41 points.

Day two will be played at Sheringham under better-ball Stableford rules, getting underway with a shotgun start.
