Two new tournaments will throw the spotlight on the course improvements undergone at Nazeing Golf Club.

The Essex venue, which has had £40,000 spent on it, will host the regional qualifier for the new PGA England and Wales County Championship on August 27.

Twenty-four hours later it will stage the Callaway Cup, a new PGA in England (East) event, for one professional and three amateurs from the same club to play foursomes over 36 holes with a 72-hole aggregate to decide the winners.

Robert Green, who has been head professional at the club for 18 years, said: “The course is in the best condition it’s ever been and we are confident that people will enjoy it. A sum of £40,000 has been spent on the course with the emphasis on bunker rejuvenation and the fairways.”

The Club is also offering an incentive to any PGA assistant who brings three full paying midweek guests to play on the 6617-yard par 72 parkland course.
