Alfreton Golf Club professional Neville Hallam (above) has been carving himself out a new career of late, following many years as a Derbyshire club pro he is now to take up a fresh role in addition to his club duties after qualifying as an equipment technology tutor with the PGA.
Neville, who has always been the pro to go to for custom fitting in the area and has been running his own custom fit business for years, will now be tutoring young PGA assistants taking part in their residential courses at The Belfry during the autumn and winter months.
Hallam initially took an interest in his new role after being invited to mark examination papers and then assess the custom fit process for third year students. As his interest and experience grew he asked to be considered as a tutor.
Simon Hubbard , training executive for golf equipment at the PGA, provided extra training which saw Hallam qualify in April.
He is excited by his new challenge and grateful to all at PGA headquarters who made it possible. “I'm indebted to Simon for his support as well as the other tutors who have all helped me in many different ways with their valuable advice and the benefit of their experience. It makes me very proud to be part of the team and I'm looking forward to the challenge.”
