Richard Bentham celebrated his first playing appearance since joining Radyr Golf Club by sharing a three-way tie in the Titleist/FootJoy West Sprint Series contest for assistants and professionals under 30.
The former Celtic Manor and Hensol Golf Academy player profited on his accurate long hitting over his new home course by making three birdies on par fives fifth, eighth and 13th. He added a fourth birdie at the par three 12th.
Bentham, second out on a chilly day, recorded a level-par-70 but returned to the clubhouse to discover that first player out, Lee Corfield (Burnham and Berrow), had already posted the same score.
Corfield, made two birdies and two pars. So did Ashley Mansell (Clevedon), the third player to post a winning score in the second outing of the five-series event.
Toby Hunt (St Mellons), Luke Derrick (Henbury) and Adam Curtis (Bude & North Cornwall) were two shots behind in fourth followed by Matt Turner (Oake Manor) and Sean Dimmick (Came Down) on 73.
