The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Northern Open has been reduced to three rounds and a cut declared on the first-round scores after persistent fog forced the abandonment of the second round at Murcar Links.
Tournament director Roy Murray said: "It's not an ideal situation but it's the best we could come up with to finish the tournament on schedule. It's certainly been the most frustrating day I have had working for the PGA in Scotland."
There were two separate suspensions of play, lasting more than six hours, before Murray finally abandoned at 6.30pm.
A total of 33 players, including the tournament leader, David Law, above, with a three-under-par 68, never hit a single ball in the second round.
