Brian O’Donovan (pictured second left) from Mission Hills Golf Academies has won the inaugural Summer Series Order of Merit organized for PGA Professionals working in China.
The Series, which included eight, one–day events in the Guangdong region was keenly contested right until the end, with each of the top five layers having a mathematical chance of winning the series going into the final event.
However, in the end it was O’Donovan who came out victorious by the smallest of margins – with just 2.5 points separating first and second.
O’Donovan finished with two wins in the final four events to edge out Mike Schield (second right) who had to settle for the runner’s up spot despite leading the Order of Merit for number of weeks. Harry Boyd (right) finished third.
Matthew Davies, representative for the PGA in China pictured left, said: “Not only have these events provided an opportunity for PGA Professionals to get out and play more golf but the events have also acted as a platform for networking and led to an increase in communication between PGA Professionals working in China.
“I look forward to organizing the next series of events and call on any companies who are looking to raise their awareness to PGA Professionals in China through sponsorship to get in touch.”
A Winter Series is due to launch in November, culminating in another grand final in April 2015.
Davies added: "The PGA is keen to extend its thanks to Mission Hills and Xili Golf and Country Club for their support in hosting the events."
