Keeping his cool, Richard O’Hanlon took command of the event with composed rounds over all three courses culminating in a two-shot margin of victory over PGA North Order of Merit winner Gareth Davies, with Sittingbourne professional Peter Appleyard a further shot back in third position.
In the team competition it was East Herts Golf Club Assistant Ash Smith and his team who pipped Gareth Davies’s team by virtue of a better final round over the testing Abu Dhabi Golf Course which will play host again to the HSBC Championships on the European Tour in January.
Jonathan Paine, Regional Manager (North), commented: "It is fantastic to be able to bring an event like this to Abu Dhabi from The PGA. It has been a great turnout for year one and we look forward to returning in future years.
"The courses have been fantastic and allow all players the opportunity to play golf when at home we would be sat inside watching the ducks, it again highlights the opportunities to our Members and I am glad that everyone here this week has received the event so well, we hope that with continued the growth the event could well turn into the success our early season trips to Portugal do.”
