Neil O'Briain (Old Conna Golf Club) cruised to a four-shot win in the Cork Pro-Am.
O'Briain caught fire over the Alister MacKenzie designed gem, bagging nine birdies and dropping just one shot at the par-four 17th on his way to a 64.
“I've been trying to get out of my own way a bit and not get too focused on mechanics,” said O'Briain. "I'm just trying to see the ball flight and hit that shot rather than putting pressure on myself.”
Tim Rice (Limerick Golf Club), Richard O'Donovan (Dun Laoghaire Golf Club), Richard Kilpatrick (Banbridge Golf Club), and Cian McNamara (Monkstown GC) finished in a share of second place.
He added; “I did the simple things well. On the short holes, I put myself into position and was able to hit some shots into the greens from the right angles.
“It was a nice solid round of golf and I putted very solidly as well. I didn't hole anything from really long range or chip in or anything like that. It's tougher than it sounds but it's amazing how a round can come together if you do the simple things well.”
Shane Jenkinson (St Margaret's) guided his amateur partners to success in the team event with 96 points.
